Circumnavigation is mostly not dying
Era
Age of Sail, 1519–1522
Provenance
Everywhere, eventually
Medium
Cartographic woodcut on chart paper
Edition
One-way edition

The expedition set out with five ships and roughly 270 men, and returned with one ship, eighteen men, and a very good story. Its commander is credited with the first circumnavigation despite completing, personally, slightly more than half of it. The globe pictured is the one thing that made the whole trip.
